Hello students and parents,

First I would like to introduce myself, I am Mr. Fagundes, the Director of Bands at Foothill High School. We are nearing our marching band season 1 week from today and I wanted to send over information about band camp. (If you are a student that isn’t participating in marching band or color guard then you can disregard this email). Band camp is a very important week in our season, we will go over a lot of basics and teach students how to march, play our music and spin. It is extremely important for the students to attend. This email will give you all of the information you will need to know about camp.

Dates for Band Camp

July 31st through August 5th

9:00am – 9:00pm (Saturday August 5th will have a modified schedule)

– On the first day of camp students will arrive at the large gym to check in and begin with introductions. Each day’s schedule will be communicated to students.

 – Lunch break will be from 12:00-1:30 and Dinner break will be from 4:30-6:00. We encourage students to either  bring their meals with them each day or find a way to get food delivered to them.

– Please eat a good breakfast before arriving at Foothill, it is important that you are taking care of your body throughout the week.

Attendance

Attendance at our band camp week is vital to getting a great start to the season. Please review the dates and times above. Students are expected to attend the entire week of band camp. Please note that generally speaking, during the week of camp members will participate in numerous rehearsal activities both inside and outside. These activities train the members in the development of the overall production. Abundant water breaks and mental decompression breaks are scheduled throughout the day.

What to expect/how to prepare

This is a physical activity and we will be outside a lot. Please prepare now by drinking lots of water, going outside to get acclimated to the sun, and eating healthy meals. This will help you be more prepared for camp and by you being prepared and healthy then we will be more successful in the long run. Getting a good night’s sleep is also important, the more rest you get the more attentive you will be at camp.
