Calling all Parents!  Band Review is only 38 Days away and we need Help!

Here is a list of some of the positions we need help with – please contact us if you can help a little or a lot, we are here to make you successful in whatever role you select and will give you all the guidance and help we can.

Here is a list of leads we need immediate help with. If any of these interest you, please email Cheryl Goebel at vicepresident@foothillmusic.org or Holly at emeritus@foothillmusic.org to let them know how you can help.

  • ***Quartermaster (critical) – Responsible for equipment inventory – helping organize lead requests – source additional equipment (borrow, purchase, rent) – work with Logistics lead for transport of equipment – should use volunteers to help – pre/post event work
  • ***Logistics Lead (critical) – Responsible for coordinating equipment delivery AND pick up and tracking – organize volunteers to help complete duties; work with Quartermaster – work with other leads on equipment needs.
  • Parade Facilities (critical) – Responsible for organizing/tracking the equipment needed for the parade – work with logistics, grandstand lead. 
  • First Aid Lead – Lead Coordinator of volunteers to sit at booths during shifts. Bring or assign others to bring first aid supplies to stations at beginning of shifts, collect (or assign/instruct) return of supplies at end of events.
  • Show Program (Shadow position for 2025) (Online and Print Versions) – Responsible for gathering information from registration (directors or chair) for bands, produce into an online booklet format. For a paper program, we’ll need to have that ready 3 weeks prior to event to allow for printing. Graphic design background a plus, but not required. Pre-event work
  • Trophy Sponsorship partner – Responsible for soliciting trophy sponsorships – families, companies, individuals can ‘sponsor’ cost of trophies – typically Grand, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. The purchaser can choose. Organize and match individuals to trophy at AVHS or FHS awards. Sponsor can present the trophy on the field to winning bands. Pre-event work
  • Parade Monitor – this job is on the parade route one location – spotter for judges
  • Parade Step Off Assistant – Responsible for starting bands for competition (and to ensure bands are quiet in the ‘quiet zone.’
  • AVHS Facility Assistant – Assist the AVHS facility lead. Help finding volunteers for AVHS shifts, moving equipment, setting up tables, helping volunteers.
  • FHS Facility Assistant – Assist the FHS facility lead. Help finding volunteers for FHS shifts, moving equipment, setting up tables, helping volunteers.

Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, & Percussion Class

  • It is highly encouraged that students take private lessons.
    • Mr. Fagundes is happy to recommend teachers
  • Football Game this Friday(9/20). Call time is 6:00pm at the Quad ready to go with your instrument. Attire is either Hawaiin/Beach wear or Foothill Blue and Gold!
    • Game will end roughly around ~8:30. Plan to pick up your child between 8:45-9:00.
  • Performance Dress Information – Required before November 16th!
    • Please take a look at the Performance Dress for Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Percussion Class HERE. This is required!

Marching Band

Parents are encouraged to come out to the football field during our evening rehearsals and check out our rehearsals. Remember to please allow enough time at the end of rehearsal for the students to put their equipment and instruments away.

Picture Day:

  • Date: Saturday, September 28th
  • Location: Foothill High School
  • Details: More information and order forms for photos will be provided soon.

Prop Building and Painting:

  • If any parents are interested in helping with prop building and painting, please look out for more information. We will begin this process in the next couple of weeks!
  • We are also looking for parents who can sew and help the backdrop of the props.

Competition Dates:

  • October 19th: Independence High School, San Jose
  • October 26th: 50th Foothill Band Review, Pleasanton
    • This is an all day event. All students and parents are required to volunteer.
  • November 2nd: Dublin High School, Dublin
    • No bus to Dublin, students will be dropped off by parents.
  • November 3rd: Veterans Day Parade, Pleasanton
    • Morning-early afternoon
  • November 16th: Lincoln High School, Stockton
    • All day event with Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band A and B, and Marching Band.
  • November 23rd and 24th: WBA Championships, Clovis
    • This is an overnight trip. We will depart Saturday morning and return Sunday evening.
  • December 7th: Holiday Parade, Pleasanton
    • Early evening call time.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • There are many opportunities for parents to be involved throughout the season. Leads will reach out to form their teams. If you have any special skills that could be helpful or are interested in volunteering, please contact a member of the booster board.
