Happy Band Review week, everyone! This will be an incredible week leading up to an incredible Saturday. I know we will all be doing our best that day to help the Band Review be a success, but do please take a break and see at least one band perform! It is worth seeing all these amazing bands and color guard units put out their best. 

URGENT Sign up Genius Request

There are still a ton of great shifts left open for Band Review. Many thanks to everyone who has already signed up for at least two shifts.  Here are some of our highest priority needs:

  • Parking Lots – Need a ton of help parking bands and guiding them to their respective spots.
    • 2-5p need 6
    • 5-8p need 8
    • 8-11p need 7
  • AVHS Parking – Santa Rita – Need a ton of help parking bands and guiding them to their respective spots.
    • 530a-930p – need 6
    • 9a–130p need 6
  • Parking Sales – We need parents to help with selling parking. This will be at the Teacher’s Lot.
    • 12-4p need 3
    • 3-730p need 3
    • 7-10p need 4
  • FHS Facilities Assistant – This person will help Michael Schweizer and George Chu organize and deliver items to everyone at FHS.
    • Shifts – 1-5p, 4:30-8p, 7:30-11p
  • AVHS First Aid
    • Shift 7 – 11a
  • Field Master – Part 1 – Leads bands on to the field, tells them when to begin their performance.
    • Shift 3-7
  • Parade Starter – This person tells the bands when they can start performing. You will get to see every band perform!
    • Shift: 10-1
  • Parade Assistant Starter – This person tells the bands when they can start performing. You will get to see every band perform!
    • Shifts: 7-1030a and 10a-1p
  • Volunteer Check-In We need at least 1 parent. A sr or jr can help.
    • Shifts: 10a-1p
  • Concert Assistant – Will help Mr. Nishimori with the concert portion of the competition.
  • Judges Assistant FHS – Will help coordinate snacks and meals for Judges.
  • AVHS Large Gym – Stage Assistant, Will help bands when they are performing.
    • Shift: 10a-145p
  • Amador Theater – Stage Assistant – Will help bands when they are performing
    • Shifts 10a-145p
  • AVHS First Aide
    • Shifts: 7-11 and 11-3

Workday Employee Volunteers wanted for Fall Band Review

Message from Ellen Schweizer, FHS music program treasurer

I will apply for a team grant for FHS music program with my employer Workday. If we have more than 5 Workday employees and volunteer 25 hours together for the music program, Workday will donate $1K to the music program. The more the merrier!Workday can donate up to $5K. If you or your relatives/friends are Workday employees and would like to help in the Fall Band Review, I will include your name and hours in the Workday team grant application. Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band

Wind Ensemble students spent most of their time last week rehearsing for the Rodriguez concert competition. This week, we will continue to do the same.

Students are working hard to have a great show this weekend at the Band Review. Working on parade and field show!
