Veggies!

Veggie Bazaar Fundraiser

**On Saturday, March 7th, we are holding our first Veggie Bazaar. We are partnering with local grocers and suppliers to sell a selection of veggies, food ingredients and merchandise to raise money for the band, strings, and color guard program. We will be promoting this retail “pop-up” event to the Pleasanton community at large, and hope to draw a very large crowd! **

Fundraiser Sat., March 7 from 10am – 4pm in FHS breezeway
Featuring vegetarian hot foods: samosas, curry pizza, pastries, and MORE!
Produce: rice, beans, veggies and MORE!
Band merchandise, clothing and accessories for sale

Action Items!

Adult volunteers: Sign Up HERE to help set up, booth help, cashiers, and baggers
Student volunteers: needed to stand on surrounding street corners in uniform and wave signs to draw customers to the sale! Sign Up **HERE. **
Time students spend helping can be logged for community service hours required for graduation. Just bring the form to be signed.

All Parents – General Board Meetings

The next Parent General Board Meeting will be our Mar/Apr meeting on April 14, for board nominations and budget discussions and after that our last Parent General Board Meeting of the 25-26 school year is on MAY 12, for new board members to be voted in and our final budget vote!

Parents, every one of us is a booster member! Many hands make light work!

We need to elect new board members both extended and executive, as well as raise up a Band Review Chair and various Band Review leads. The majority of our Board Members are going to age out so, we need to have shadows this next year, URGENTLY! The sooner you volunteer, the easier the job becomes under the tutelage of a mentor!

Create Your Graduating Senior A Page For Our Yearbook – Due by April 1

Senior families, please put together a one page photo collage PDF featuring your student and any congratulatory message you would like to write for your child. Here are some example pages from a prior year in a PDF.2023 senior page examples HERE

You can use any desktop publishing tool as long as it can output a PDF file. The PDF needs to be standard letter size (8.5” x 11”) with at least 300 dpi resolution. Some free software packages you may choose to use include Canva (https://www.canva.com/ ), Figma (https://www.figma.com/ ) and Adobe Express (https://www.adobe.com/express/ ). The Google suite creates a fine PDF page as well.

Please email the PDF file to president@foothillmusic.org no later than April 1. Use the subject line: Senior YB Page- Student’s First Name & Last Name; EXAMPLE: Senior YB Page- Sofia Liu

Our program depends on your support for events like those listed above AND your Student Share Donations, we are at 65 percent donated thus far. We are making progress and it shows!

Student Donation Information

Our program DEPENDS on donation money to function. The Student Share donation is how your family supports your student’s music goals and ensures they get the best music program possible. Please strive to meet or exceed the requested amounts, but any amount helps.

There are four easy ways to make your Student Share donation:

1) Write a**** check. Then give it to your student to drop in the locked band box in the band room.

2) Pay with**** PayPal**** (https://paypal.com/). Use your PayPal account (or set one up if you don’t have one) to pay your Student Share in the app. Here is how it works: open the PayPal app, click the menu in the upper left corner, scroll down to Donate and tap, search for Foothill Band Boosters and select it, click the Donate button and select the Other category, input your student’s Student Share amount (see table below*), follow the payment instructions and you’re done!

3) Pay via**** CutTime (https://app.gocuttime.com/). CutTime is the Foothill Band Boosters management platform. Just login with your CutTime account, click below your students name, then click on the Payments link at the bottom of the list. Click on the green button that says “Make a Payment”, click the amount to pay, then fill in your debit or credit card information and submit the payment.

4) Pay via**** FutureFund (https://foothill.futurefund.com/). FutureFund is the PUSD sponsored platform that you signed up for when you registered your student for the school year. Just login to the site, click the Store button at the top of the webpage, click on the Band Boosters oval button below the page title, then select the Donation square designated for your students ensemble. Select your donation amount, fill in your students name, click Add To Cart, then proceed with the checkout process.

When using PayPal, here are the Student Share donation amounts for each ensemble to insert in the “Other” field:

Fall Marching Band & Color Guard Students: $900
Wind Ensemble Students: $225
Concert & Symphonic Band Students: $150
Orchestra Students: $100
Jazz Ensemble A and B Students: $200
Winter Percussion Students: $900

Tuxedo: Black Tuxedo, Black Bowtie and cummerbund (or vest), White shirt (wing collar is a good choice), Long black socks, Black dress shoes (pants will need to be hemmed)Tuxedo Link OR ANY tuxedo works fine – MUST BE ALL BLACK with a WHITE SHIRT

Our first annual PUSD Jazz Night was a great success! The event took place in Amador Theater on 2/12. Our three PUSD middle schools and both high schools had all of their jazz bands perform 2 charts each. An added bonus to the show was a surprise appearance by an acapella group from Amador. A great night of amazing music!

Treasurer of Student Accounts Information

There are four easy ways to make your Student Share donation:

1) Write a**** check. Then give it to your student to drop in the locked band box in the band room.

3) Pay with**** CutTime (https://app.gocuttime.com/). CutTime is the Foothill Band Boosters management platform. Just login with your CutTime account, click below your students name, then click on the Payments link at the bottom of the list. Click on the green button that says “Make a Payment”, click the amount to pay, then fill in your debit or credit card information and submit the payment.

4) Pay with**** FutureFund (https://foothill.futurefund.com/). FutureFund is the PUSD sponsored platform that you signed up for when you registered your student for the school year. Just login to the site, click the Store button at the top of the webpage, click on the Band Boosters oval button below the page title, then select the Donation square designated for your students ensemble. Select your donation amount, fill in your students name, click Add To Cart, then proceed with the checkout process.

When using PayPal, here are the Student Share donation amounts for each ensemble to insert in the “Other” field:

Fall Marching Band & Color Guard Students: $900
Wind Ensemble Students: $225
Concert & Symphonic Band Students: $150
Orchestra Students: $100
Jazz Ensemble A and B Students: $200
Winter Percussion Students: $900

Hello parents of Winter Music Programs. We have a slight problem. Our small, dedicated team can’t possibly make it to every event. We see you taking videos & photos of your teen’s performances from the audience. Please help out by sharing them with their classmates and our FHS music community.

If you’d like to join our Media Team and help represent your student’s band/ensemble/orchestra/winter group, please contact: photography@foothillmusic.org or join our group chat via the Band app ****! No prior experience is needed, just a love for watching your teen perform with friends. **

Students in String Orchestra, Honors Symphony Orchestra, Concert, Symphonic & Honors Wind Ensemble**** will need concert attire for performances this year.

Concert Dress: Long black dress, Black dress shoes (dress will need to be hemmed)Dress Link

Plan ahead for ordering, delivery, and alterations!

Concert Attire is required for all performances.

Jazz Attire is per the director’s request (varies from the above concert attire):

Dark Colors; Long ties only; Coats for everyone wearing a collared shirt and tie; Dark Color Shoes/Black (NO WHITE SOLES); tall Black socks; Shirt should be either white, or dark.

Winter Percussion had their first competition of the 2026 season in Sunnyvale yesterday! They did great, learned a lot, and will compete again this Sat. 2/14 in Dublin. Go Winter Perc!

Senior Band, Strings, & Guard scholarship Due 4/14

Each year the Boosters Award one $1000 scholarship to a Senior Musician or Colorguard applicant. Application HERE are due by 5pm, Tue., April 14 to president@foothillmusic.org. Use subject line: Senior Scholarship**. The Award Winner will be announced at the End of Year Banquet on Fri., 4/24. **

Graduating Senior Pages for our Band Yearbook Due 4/1

You can use any desktop publishing tool as long as it can output a PDF file. The PDF needs to be standard letter size (8.5” x 11”) with at least 300 dpi resolution. Some free software packages include Canva (https://www.canva.com/ ), Figma (https://www.figma.com/ ) and Adobe Express (https://www.adobe.com/express/ ). The Google suite creates a fine PDF page as well.

**2025-26 Foothill High School Music Program’s Newsletter **

Congratulations! Mr. Fagundes and his wife welcomed the arrival of their new baby boy, Logan Michael Fagundes. He was born January 28, at 6:05 a.m., weighing 7 lbs 6 oz and measuring 19 1/4 inches long. Both Logan and Mrs. Fagundes are doing well.

The next Parent General Board Meeting will be our Mar/Apr meeting on April 14, for board nominations and budget discussions and after that our last Parent General Board Meeting of the 25-26 school year is on MAY 12, for new board members to be voted in and our final budget vote!

**2025-26 Foothill High School Music Program’s Newsletter **

Announcements:

Welcome Back! This is our first newsletter of 2026.

Cheers to a new year and to our spring season of music!

IMPORTANT: Please join us for our Jan/ Feb Parent Meeting this Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 7-8pm in the school library or via Google Meet (link below).

Parents, every one of us is a booster member! Many hands make light work!

We need to elect new board members both extended and executive, as well as raise up a Band Review Chair or Co-Chairs and various other Band Review leads. The majority of our Board Members are going to age out so, we need to have shadows this next year, URGENTLY! The sooner you volunteer, the easier the job becomes under the tutelage of a mentor! Without an Exec Board, by law, the Boosters Organization cannot exist.

A NEW FACE: As you likely know, Mr. Fagundes and his wife are about to welcome their second son this week! His last day of teaching has been bumped up to Monday, January 26 and his tentative return date is March 17, a 30 day paternity leave. In his absence, we are fortunate to have our talented Mr. Nishimori directing jazz and strings as usual, and we welcome Hunter Franklin to our director’s podium. Hunter has worked previously with the FHS marching students as a music technician. He is well trained, with a BA degree in music, and he is well respected by the students. Welcome to Hunter!

Finally, we have been having lots of fundraisers lately because our family “Student Share” giving level is below the needs of our budget. We had hoped the Crab & Pasta Dinner would help to fill the gap, but sadly we didn’t sell enough tickets to make the event happen. We have approximately 53% of the “Student Share” donated at this point, and that is not enough to sustain our program needs. We have a $30,000 gap at the moment in “Student Share”. The student share gap has closed by $11,000 from Nov. to Jan., and for that we are VERY THANKFUL! Every penny given is needed for our program to function, we have been forced to trim items to balance the budget. Please be sure to donate to the programs your student is in, and even more if you are able! Corporate matching is sooo helpful!

Treasurer of Student Accounts Information

The Student Share donation is how your family supports your student’s music goals and ensures they get the best music program possible. Please strive to meet or exceed the requested donation amounts, but any amount helps.

There are four easy ways to make your Student Share donation:

1) Write a check. Then give it to your student to drop in the locked band box in the band room.

2) Pay with PayPal. (https://paypal.com/).**** Use your PayPal account (or set one up if you don’t have one) to pay your Student Share in the app. Here is how it works: open the PayPal app, click the menu in the upper left corner, scroll down to Donate and tap, search for Foothill Band Boosters and select it, click the Donate button and select the Other category, input your student’s Student Share amount (see table below*), follow the payment instructions and you’re done!

3) Pay with CutTime (https://app.gocuttime.com/). CutTime is the Foothill Band Boosters management platform. Just login with your CutTime account, click below your students name, then click on the Payments link at the bottom of the list. Click on the green button that says “Make a Payment”, click the amount to pay, then fill in your debit or credit card information and submit the payment.

4) Pay with FutureFund (https://foothill.futurefund.com/). FutureFund is the PUSD sponsored platform that you signed up for when you registered your student for the school year. Just login to the site, click the Store button at the top of the webpage, click on the Band Boosters oval button below the page title, then select the Donation square designated for your students ensemble. Select your donation amount, fill in your students name, click Add To Cart, then proceed with the checkout process.

When using PayPal, here are the Student Share donation amounts for each ensemble to insert in the “Other” field:

Fall Marching Band & Color Guard Students: $900
Wind Ensemble Students: $225
Concert & Symphonic Band Students: $150
Orchestra Students: $100
Jazz Ensemble A and B Students: $200
Winter Percussion Students: $900

Announcements:

What a delight to hear the spectacular musical pieces performed by our hard working students in their winter concerts this past week! Huge thanks to Mr. Fagundes and Mr. Nishimori for preparing our students musically! We appreciate their skills, dedication, and hard work!

The holidays are upon us and the warm feeling of family and holiday celebrations offsets the chill in the air. We will take a couple of weeks away from our newsletter in the last weeks of December. Please look for the next Falcon Beat in early January. All family and friends of music are invited to purchase tickets to the Pasta & Crab adult dinner on Fri., January 23rd. Tickets will be limited (based on seating availability) and pre-sold for the event. The evening will include a sit down fresh crab & pasta dinner, a veggie option for our vegetarians, a no-host wine and beer bar, live jazz music, a silent auction, a dessert dash, and more!

We wish you and you and your family a very restful break together.

Announcements:

From the Booster President-

Thanks to the many families who showed up to the Pleasanton Hometown Holiday Parade on Saturday evening. It was colder this year, but the marching students looked and sounded fantastic- They kept our hearts warm. This was the final marching event from our fall season.

Next week, we have concerts from every group in our program! We look forward to hearing three nights of amazing instrumental music – a bonus night of music is the Fri. choir concert. Please invite anyone to attend with you, no tickets are needed for our instrumental concerts, and all friends and family are welcome to any or all of the performances.

We are looking forward to the start of Winter Percussion & Winter Guard- anyone may try out, for example a viola player could learn to twirl a flag or a cello player could play the marimba, it’s a fun way to try something new.

The annual Winter Surf & Turf Sale is this weekend. This semi-annual retail fundraiser will be held at Foothill High School. Come and purchase choice cuts of meats and amazing seafood to enjoy at your holiday feasts! Parents, Guardians and students, we need your help to put this event on! We need volunteers to work the stand and sell the goods. The Sign Up Genius is here:: T&S SignUp Genius. You will be helping with point of sale, custom cuts, and bagging of products. Adult volunteers are needed to close down at the end of the day. We are still short of our fundraising goal of $247,000 and every fundraiser counts! Dave’s Hot Chicken Dine Out (12/10, 4-8pm): Join us for this delicious fundraiser! Grab a great meal while supporting our music program—every order helps. Bring family and friends, and don’t forget to share the attached flyer. We hope to see you there!

The Poptastic Holiday Gourmet Popcorn Sale is extended until 12/12:

This is a friendly reminder that our Poptastic Gourmet Popcorn Fundraiser is on until Friday, December 12th, only a few more days left! We have hit $5,000 (!!!), but we still have a ways to go to reach our $25,000 goal.

The most important step is for each student to send their emails and texts to friends and family. It only takes a few minutes and is the key to our success. And we have OVER 100 STUDENTS who have yet to send even one email or text to friends and family, to see if they want to purchase these delightful treats for the holidays!

Your participation working with your student is vital to the success of this program. Please see the flyer for instructions and how to work with your student to send out emails and text to friends, family and loved ones.

Concert Dress: Long black dress, Black dress shoes (dress will need to be hemmed) Dress Link

Students may choose EITHER option
Plan ahead for ordering, delivery, and alterations!

Concert Attire is required for all performances.

Jazz Attire is per the director’s request (varies from the above concert attire):

Dark Colors; Long ties only; Coats for everyone wearing a collared shirt and tie; Dark Color Shoes/Black (NO WHITE SOLES); tall Black socks; Shirt should be either white, or dark.

Treasurer of Student Accounts Information

There are four easy ways to make your Student Share donation:

1) Write a check. Then give it to your student to drop in the locked band box in the band room.

2) Pay with PayPal (https://paypal.com/). Use your PayPal account (or set one up if you don’t have one) to pay your Student Share in the app. Here is how it works: open the PayPal app, click the menu in the upper left corner, scroll down to Donate and tap, search for Foothill Band Boosters and select it, click the Donate button and select the Other category, input your student’s Student Share amount (see table below*), follow the payment instructions and you’re done!

3) Pay with CutTime (https://app.gocuttime.com/). CutTime is the Foothill Band Boosters management platform. Just login with your CutTime account, click below your students name, then click on the Payments link at the bottom of the list. Click on the green button that says “Make a Payment”, click the amount to pay, then fill in your debit or credit card information and submit the payment.

4) Pay with FutureFund (https://foothill.futurefund.com/). FutureFund is the PUSD sponsored platform that you signed up for when you registered your student for the school year. Just login to the site, click the Store button at the top of the webpage, click on the Band Boosters oval button below the page title, then select the Donation square designated for your students ensemble. Select your donation amount, fill in your students name, click Add To Cart, then proceed with the checkout process.

*When using PayPal, here are the Student Share donation amounts for each ensemble to insert in the “Other” field:

Wind Ensemble Students: $225

2025-26 Foothill High School Music Program’s Newsletter

Director’s Message:

As we continue to catch our breath after an incredible marching band season and a truly unforgettable championship weekend, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our parent volunteers. Your dedication, encouragement, and behind-the-scenes support ensured that our students were always prepared and positioned for success on the field.

It truly takes a village to do what we do, and I couldn’t be more proud of the community we have here at Foothill High School. This year, our program made history, earning the highest score Foothill has ever received in WBA competition (83.575 at the WBA Regional Championships) and achieving our highest placement at the WBA Grand Championships (14th place). These accomplishments are a reflection of the incredible families standing behind our students every step of the way.

To our seniors: thank you for an exceptional season and for helping shape the culture that will guide this program for years to come. To all returning students and families: your continued participation in the Marching Band is essential to building on this legacy. We’re already planning exciting things for next year, and we can’t achieve them without you. Thank you again for being such an extraordinary part of our Foothill community.

We will kick off December with our Downtown Holiday Parade this Sat 12/6 (see details below) and then our winter concerts are next week 12/9-11. Encourage your students to practice at home and double check for correctly fitting concert dress and shoes! We will hold our Nov/Dec General Board Meeting for all parents in the MPR from 6:00- 6:45pm; prior to the Honors Wind Ensemble Concert (12/9). Hoping to see lots of your smiling faces!

Our marching students started off their November break at WBA Champs in Fresno where they did well in both the 4A Division on Saturday and in the Grand Champs competition on Sunday. Congratulations to all of our hard working students, parent supporters, staff and our amazing directors, Mr. Fagundes and Mr. Nishimori.

Wishing all of you a great family filled conclusion to your Thanksgiving Break!

The Poptastic Holiday Gourmet Popcorn Sale is On! (11/14-12/5):

This holiday season we are raising money through a delicious gourmet popcorn sale. We are selling four varieties of gourmet popcorn that are delivered straight to donors’ homes. No delivery by students needed! This amazing popcorn not only makes a great snack with a cup of hot chocolate on chilly winter nights, but it makes a fantastic gift to give loved ones over the winter holiday. Flavors on offer are: Cookies & Cream Pop, Cake Pop, Caramel Cashew Pop, and Peanut Butter Pop. YUUUUUM! The sale will run through 12/5, so we only have 1 more week for our students to reach out to friends and family, sell some popcorn, and raise money for the music program! Marching Band and Color Guard

Pleasanton Downtown Holiday Parade 12/6 (Sat) Time TBD; approx. time 3:30-7pm; start@Amador; end by Gay 90s’s Pizza

****Students will march in drill masters with Santa hats (band has some hats to loan but feel free to bring your own; no shakos; wear black gloves); students decorate their instruments/flags with holiday lights, garland, and gift wrap paper before the parade meet up time. Many sections have a decorating party before the parade, if not, decorate on your own or with other band friends. Leave cases & personal items in your car with your family. We start and end at two different locations and cannot leave things at Amador HS. We will have a band truck to haul the uniforms, ID letters, flags, sousa/bari sax, quads/drums and other big stuff, BUT many of these are not in cases (due to decorations) so best if you bring what you can on your own, then we undecorate at the end and take everything back that night to FHS.

***It’s typically cold, so wear warm stuff under your uniform or get approved for something warm (looking unified) as ID or guard by Mr. Fagundes.

***Example Plan: decorate a sousa (or your instrument/flag) at home, put your empty case in your car if possible or big cases (sousa, bari) can go in the band truck (at FHS) and bring your instrument yourself (to Amador) to march, get in your uniform at Amador together, warm up, then undecorate your item at the end (near Gay 90’s Pizza) and pack your sousa (or your instrument/flag) in its case to go back to school (FHS) in your car or big items in the band truck.

President’s Message:

Congratulations to our phenomenal Marching Band and Colorguard for a amazing performance at WBA Regional Championships-James Logan High school yesterday. They earned a well-deserved Second Place finish against 8 schools. Great job

As we wind up the last few weeks of our fall marching season, we once again thank our village of volunteers for your many hours given to the students and our program. Hoping to see many of you in Fresno for Champs on Nov. 22-23. We have launched our Winter popcorn fundraiser, Turf & Surf Sale, AND our Winter concerts will be taking place in the beginning of December. Lots of great things are still coming…Happy upcoming Thanksgiving to all of our strings, band, and guard families, may you find much to be thankful for in your lives.

2025-26 Foothill High School Music Program’s Newsletter

President’s Message:

A highlight of our marching season is being able to give back to the community and today we did that by marching in the Pleasanton Veteran’s Day Parade. This event honors those who serve/d our country and who helped freedom ring! Hopefully you are able to come out and watch the parade on Main Street, at 1pm. Marching students arrive at 11:30 am to dress and set the block.

We had a great time together Fri, 11/7, at the Future Falcon Tailgate Dinner with our current students & incoming 7th & 8th graders. Many thanks to the amazing parents who donated dinner items and who volunteered at the event! Volunteers are the backbone of our program. Thanks also to Mr. Fagundes and our marching band & color guard students for another wonderful halftime performance at the last 2025-26 home regular season football game. “Trombone Line” is always a big hit and so fun to watch.

On Sat, 11/8, Jazz A earned the sweepstakes award at the NCBA competition in Merced!! Their combined total was 94.2. against lots of tough competition! Foothill also received 2 individual awards: Noah on flugel & trumpet and Victor on flute, clarinet, & Sax. Way to go Mr. Nishimori and Jazz A!! Congratulations to Jazz A .

12/6 (Sat) Holiday Parade for Marching Band & Color Guard (Time TBD; approx. time 3-7pm; start@Amador; end by Gay 90s’s Pizza)

12/6-7 (Sat & Sun, 10am to 4 pm) The annual Surf & Turf Sale! Come buy high quality cuts of meat for your holiday feasts! Offerings and prices coming soon. All proceeds go to the band program!

Please note that most videos will be marked private, and are unsearchable on the platform until the band season is over.

Again, you don’t need a fancy camera to take great Photos or Videos… the best ones are taken close up – with a cellphone!

Marching Band and Color Guard

11/9 (Sun) Pleasanton Veterans Day Parade. Students should arrive at Civic Park (near police station/library) by 11:30 AM. Parade begins at 1pm. We expect to be finished by 2:30–3:00 PM. Click here for Sunday’s itinerary

11/15 (Sat) Competition @ James Logan HS. We will not be taking buses to the competition at James Logan. Transportation will be handled the same way as Dublin. Please plan your schedule accordingly to drop off and pick up your child. We encourage carpooling – connect with other parents in the program to coordinate rides. If you’re unable to drive or arrange a carpool for your child, please email vicepresident@foothillmusic.org. We have a few Level 3 volunteer-cleared chaperones who may be able to assist with transportation. Please see the attached itinerary for drop-off and pickup times, as well as additional details for the day.

The WBA Marching Championships will take place at Buchanan High in Clovis on Saturday & Sunday, Nov. 22-23, 2025. Students and staff will be staying at the Piccadilly Inn in Fresno, for 1 night on Saturday, Nov 22, 2025. Parents, both volunteers and others, are welcome to book rooms at the same hotel with a group rate.

Boosters are covering the hotel costs for the students and directors only. Parents, volunteers, and chaperones can make reservations by calling the hotel directly during M-F business hours. The Winter Turf & Surf Sale**: The annual Winter Turf & Surf Sale is on for the weekend of December 6th & 7th.** This semi-annual food sale (formerly “The Meat Sale”) will be held at Foothill High School. Come and purchase choice cuts of meats and amazing seafood to enjoy at your holiday feasts! Parents and Guardians: keep an eye out for a SignUp Genius form to help with point of sale, custom cuts, and bagging of products.
