Foothill High School Music Program

Efrain Hinojosa - Director of Bands

Mr. Hinojosa instructs the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band, as well as teaches the AP Music Theory, Color Guard, and Percussion class.  Mr. Hinojosa received his Bachelors of Music degree from California State University Stanislaus with concentrations in music education and flute performance.

Prior to his joining the Foothill family, Mr. Hinojosa served as the Director of Bands at Central Valley High School from 2010 to 2016.  His involvement with music education began in the early 2000’s with his work with many Stockton schools, culminating with lead positions at Granite Bay High (Granite Bay, CA), Foothill High (Pleasanton, CA), and Lincoln High (Stockton, CA).  

Erik Nishimori - Orchestra, Jazz Band 2
Mr. Nishimori instructs our Jazz 2 Ensemble as well as the String Orchestra class.  He received his Bachelor's Degree and teaching credential in Music Education from The University of the Pacific.  Before joining the Foothill family he taught elementary and middle school instrumental music in Lodi Unified School District.  During the early stages of his music career, Mr. Nishimori also instructed music and marching at Lodi High School from 2002-2009.

Erik has performed in the San Joaquin County, All Northern, and All State Honor Bands.  He has also played in the All Northern Jazz Honor Band.  While in college, Mr. Nishimori shared principle chair in the University of the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble.  As an instructor Mr. Nishimori has traveled to Florida, Southern California, Mexico, Nevada, and Hawaii.  As a performer, Erik has played in Monterey, Fresno, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Mammoth Lakes, Chiliwack British Columbia, and Sun Valley Idaho.
